Imagine Ballet Theatre’s 20th Anniversary of the Nutcracker will be December 2027.
Over the past twenty years, Imagine Ballet Theatre has pieced together their sets, backdrops, costumes and props to create the masterpiece you know and love today.
However, just like all good things, some of our backdrops are becoming worn down. The paint is chipping, the material is struggling, and we need to rejuvenate them.
Our goal is to team with the Utah Opera to paint new backdrops, legs, and borders for the performance. Sherry and Josh Ferrin will hopefully design the backdrops. Sherry Ferrin, an Ogden legend, was the original designer and painter for our Nutcracker backdrops. She painted little bits and pieces of Ogden into our sets, and that ties our Nutcracker to the community of Ogden in a special way.
Instead of taking 20 years to collect, we would like to put it all together for this one celebratory year. The cost of this huge project will be close to $200,000.00. We are looking for grants to help us pay for this as well, since the community has been such a huge supporter, we believe we will get some support. However, this is a huge ask, one that we do not believe we will get strictly from grants. Also, fundraising helps the granters feel confident that their money will affect the community, which is why they give grants in the first place.
