Nathan Caulford Lightworks Photography

Local photographer Nathan Caulford will be displaying his photos at the Imagine Ballet Theatre studios as part of Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll on August 5th . Doors will open at 6:00 pm for guests to view the gallery, and closes at 9:00 pm.

Caulford began shooting and working in the darkroom as a hobby in 1999. He started using digital in 2003 when he accepted a job with Digital Specialties, a sporting event photography company. By 2004, he had been contracted to photograph National Championship events for U.S. Figure Skating, as well as the bi-annual State Games of America for the U.S. Olympic Committee. In 2005, he was hired to photograph the Luge World Championships, and began working with film talent on-set and in his Salt Lake City studio.

 

Caulford has photographed Archery World Cup, Youth Archery World Cup, WAC Basketball Championships, Winter Dew Tour, “Among the Maya” (a personal project in Guatemala), two commissions for Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, and he regularly shoots for Ogden Business Development Division, and the Salt Lake City-based architectural firm, Axis Architects.

 

Caulford has been awarded five awards by the Society of Professional Journalists, including three 1st place awards (feature photography, sports essay, and sports feature). He is also the recipient of the American Democracy Award given by the New York Times.

 

Caulford’s favorite genres are portraiture and nature. His major influences include David Leeson and Greg Gorman.

2011 Summer Intensive Performance: August 12th

Our 2011 Summer Intensive Performance is winding to a close, and with only two more weeks of classes the dancers are working hard as they finish the five-week dance program. A final performance showing their progress and performance pieces will be held August 12th at the Peery’s Egyptian Theater at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available through the Peery’s Egyptian Theater box office or online at smithstix.com.

 

IBT’s Summer Dance Intensive spans five weeks and six hours a day during the week. The dancers focus on ballet technique for two hours each day, while the afternoons are dedicated to variations, pointe, and other styles of dance. These other styles include modern, contemporary ballet, jazz, and choreography. The dancers have also had the opportunity to prepare their own pieces of choreography throughout the summer in preparation for the Summer Dance Sampler performance.

 

Joining the dancers on stage will be Gary Flannery, a former star of Broadway and Bob Fosse’s principal dancer for many years. Mr. Flannery will be performing the legendary “Mr. Bojangles” piece, which was originally choreographed by Bob Fosse for him.

The School of Imagine Ballet Theatre is accepting new students ages 3 to 5 for Movement and Music, 5 and up for Pre-ballet through Advanced Ballet, Pointe, and Variations classes. Other classes available will be Art Class, Modern Class, Yoga, Adult Ballet, and Adult Ballroom which meets twice a month.

Gary Flannery will be performing with the dancers from IBT’s Summer intensive Dance Sampler Mr. Bo Jangles choreographed for him by Bob Fosse.  He is staging a w work in the style of Fosse to music by Gershwin.

Oswaldo Muniz is in Ogden from New York City to teach ballet technique, variations and create a new ballet for IBT’s Fall Gala to the music of Mozart.  He has danced with Richmond Ballet, Garden State Ballet, Edward Villella and Dancers to name a few.

Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll: Mac Stevenson

Local artist Mac Stevenson will be displaying his artwork at the Imagine Ballet Theatre studios as part of Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll on July 1st. Doors will open at 6:00 pm for guests to view the gallery, and closes at 9:00 pm.

Mac displays work regularly at Gallery 25 in Ogden, as well as at Celebration of Fine Art in Scottsdale, Arizona. His artwork can be found in private collections in 32 states, Mexico, Canada, Germany, and England.

In 2009, Mac received the Mayor’s Award for his outstanding contribution to the visual arts in the city of Ogden, Utah. In 2002, he was also honored by the University of Utah as one of the “Top 100 Artists” in Utah. He was chosen by Utah Sate University as the 1997 Art Teacher of the Year.

He received his Bachelors Degree from Weber State University and his Masters of Fine Art from Brigham Young University.  After a 30 year career in art education, he is now a full time artist painting in oil on linen or canvas.

Music, Art, & Dance – Week 2

We’re in the middle of the second week of Music, Art, and Dance here at the studios. The dancers have been having a fantastic time learning more about their three subjects each day.
